Moms Are Superheroes!

I know it's a little early for a Mother's Day tribute, but I just wanted to tell all of you mothers how amazing you are! For those of you who don't know, Brett and I live in a basement apartment in Springville...really close to my parents, in fact, it's their basement that we are living in! :) They have been out of town this week, on a much deserved cruise, and we have been playing mom and dad to Benton. It's tough, and he's only one kid!! He has school, basketball games, piano practice, Scouts, etc. When my mom is home she is so on top of things. She cooks, cleans, sews, EVERYTHING! You name it, she does it! It was a mistake to move in, because now Brett has experienced being pampered by a professional homemaker and then he'll have to live with me for the rest of his life. Poor guy!

One evening, Brett wanted to run his clothes through the washer, but there was already a load in. In the morning, around 7am, he said, "Lex, I'm gonna go throw a wash in." he came back down the stairs looking like he had seen a ghost and said, "Lex, your mom is AMAZING! She washed all of my laundry and now she is folding it. ALL OF IT!" Upon leaving on her vacation, she left a full week's worth of meals in the freezer. Last night Brett said, "Lex, thanks for baking dinner." My reply, "Yeah, it was pretty tough, I had to pull it out of the freezer and throw it in the oven."

Brett and I are certain we will wait a while to have kids. We need to figure out how to manage our own lives before we throw a poor, innocent child in the mix. My grades have completely plummetted this week. I'll be making up for it for the remainder of the semester. Brett started a new job yesterday on top of school full time and he has been wonderful to help me with Ben. In the morning, he gets him off to school and then helps get him ready for bed each night. He plays games with him, reads him stories and tucks him in. Thanks, Bretski!

I have some pretty amazing moms to live up to, my own, Brett's mom, my sister... the list goes on! I'm in awe of all that each of you do everyday! :) I'm glad you'll be around to help me out when I become a mommy!

Hee, hee, I remember being a "tender" when Paul and I first got married. We watched his sister's family a number of times. SEVEN kids! Talk about an eye opener. It made us think twice about having kids, too.

Way to go, LEX!

Whatever Lex, I'm sure you'll be an EXCELLENT homemaker and mom! You don't give yourself enough credit I'm sure :) I know what you mean though, I don't understand how moms do it, they're amazing! Maybe with some practice, eh? Your blog's super cute! I'm glad I stumbled upon it :)
