Clnical Rotations

For those of you who don't know, I'm in my second semester of nursing school at UVU. Sometimes when I'm driving to the hospital at 5:00am I wonder why I ever chose to be a nurse but by the end of each day, I remember! I fall in love with my patients - especially the little ones! :) Lately I have been working in Labor/Delivery and Mother/Baby - I hope to work in that area permanently one day. For those of you who know me well, or AT ALL really, I'm sure you can figure out why. I LOVE BABIES!! :) Most days, while driving away from the hospital, I call Brett and tell him "I want a baby!!!" - his reply, "We're never gonna last 4 years" (Our plan is to wait a few years before we have little Johnsons running around).

A few weeks ago we did a rotation at Primary Children's Hospital. It was amazing! Those kids are so TOUGH - there were a few times I had to leave a patient's room so he/she wouldn't see the tears in my eyes! The parents were also wonderful! They stayed all day and many even stayed through the night to make sure their child was comfortable and as happy as possible.

I found this link on my friend Mari's blog and it reminded me of some of the stories I heard...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th6Njr-qkq0
Grab some tissues!!

Here's a picture of me with some of my fellow nursing students:

You have such a big heart!!! Labor and Delivery or Pediatrics seem like a perfect fit for you! I remember what a natural you were playing with my kids!! They loved you right away!
P.S. You are definitely NOT going to last four years. But that's okay.

Good luck with that waiting thing ;) You're going to be a great nurse Lexi. Labor and Delivery would be lucky to have you, the moms would be lucky to have you. I was so thankful to have good nurses when I delivered, they made such a difference!

No waiting!! My kids need cousins ASAP!!
You can be Brad's residency nurse before he does surgery. That would be fabulous!
