Shungnak, AK

If you're thinking WHERE IS THAT? You're not alone. Here's a map to give you an idea:
Brett recently traveled to Shungnak for work. It's a remote village in the middle of nowhere!
The village is inhabited primarily by Alaska Natives and of course animals -- like the mom and baby moose pictured below.

Brett has been working for Earhart Roofing this Summer. He and a few co-workers were chosen for this Shungnak job. Brett got to ride in the cockpit on the way to Shungnak.

A school, or maybe THE school, in Shungnak needed a new roof. The school is the largest building in the picture below - this is obviously a view from the plane.

The crew worked LONG HOURS, but they did sneak a little play time in!

FISHING
EXPLORING NEARBY VILLAGES
HAVING A WATER FIGHT WITH THE LOCAL KIDS

They also enjoyed outstanding accomodations, including relaxing baths in a freezing river...

...fancy outhouses (there were some toilets available)...

...and roomy, foam beds with no blankets!

Although he did say it was an overall good experience, I think Brett is glad to be home! He is zonked out in our warm, cozy bed as I type! :)
