Feliz Navidad

Brett and I left for our honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta the day after finals ended. Just what we needed! We had a great time, although my stomach would disagree, as it's still fighting off bacteria from our authentic Mexican food. I think I'll just stick with Cafe Rio from now on. Brett's mom and aunt were in Puerto Vallarta as well and we have joked about keeping it a secret that Brett had to take his mommy on his honeymoon with him, but I don't know if I could have handled Christmas with no family around.
Here are a few fun pictures from our trip - they are in reversed chronological order...

Mexico 2008
On our last night we met up with Brett's mom and Auntie Cathy. We talked, played with the glowsticks I had put in everyone's stocking, and watched the fireworks.

The sunsets were beautiful.
Stretch...1...2...3...

Shopping at the flea market
Oh, Tony... so very drunk. My excuse? Just crazy! :)
Our friends from the boat tour - Tony was from Alaska originally and Ryan from Seattle. They both now live and work full-time in Puerto Vallarta.

Haha, I was proud of myself for roughin' it when I used this toilet. I had to flush everything down with this bucket of water.

Los Arcos
The tour was supposed to include a continental breakfast - since when is two slices of watermelon, a few pieces of pineapple, and a small powdered doughnut considered continental breakfast???
Brett was pretty scared about getting on the boat!
Dinner on Christmas evening - Thanks, Auntie Cathy
Children of the Dump - On Christmas day we went with a service group to hand out candy, rice, beans, toys, shoes, etc. to people who live near or within the dump. What a great Christmas!!!!
The children in Mexico were GORGEOUS!
I love this picture of Brett's mom

My family has a tradition of opening one present on Christmas Eve - it's always new "jammies!"

Fatty!
The whole crew in their Christmas pajamas!
Cute stockings from Mom Johnson - Brett's family always receives their stockings full of socks on Christmas Eve
My hair in all of its glory - the humidity turned it into a beast!!

Scarfing down some grapes I later figured out were a garnish ha ha

Rhythms of the Night
Dinner on the beach

Polly want a cracker?
The vendors, like vultures, waiting for us on the beach
We watched this woman for a good hour - she makes beautiful pictures using spray paint
Christmas tree in the town square
Soda in glass bottles! I'm looking a little green in this picture - once again, the authentic Mexican food
Crossing the busy road
Putting our lives in the crazy bus driver's hands yet again...
The red on the wall behind us is a heart...how precious haha
