3rd Month

October 14th - Evy giggled for the first time. Of course it was during Sunday school - naughty baby! That didn't stop us from making her do it over and over again!

October 16th - Evy "accidentally" rolled from her belly to her back. She started the graceful maneuver with a face plant!

Evy's hair seems to be getting more red!

 Evy got this beautiful crocheted blanket from her great-great aunt Verdena Wade.

 Evy discovered her ears and pulls on them.

 She loves to snuggle into her blanket when falling asleep. Her nose is always red when she wakes up from rubbing her covers.

Little Stroll and Pumpkin Patch

In mid-October Evy and I met up with Rachel Johnston and her two little boys to take a stroll on a path near our apartment. 

 Baby Griff is just two weeks younger than Evy. It was fun for Rachel and I to be pregnant at the same time. I'm sure Evs and Griff will be great friends one day!

 Cute Kayden - it's been so fun to watch this little man grow over the past year.

A few days later Kayden visited us for a little while. He was so sweet with Evy. He insisted on be next to her at all times and even held her hand and put her binky in her mouth when she cried.

While Evy was napping we did a fall art project and made dinner. (Hence the apron).

Shortly after Kayden left Brett got home from school. I had insisted that we take Evy to a pumpkin patch so that was our plan for the evening. I think part of the reason was that when Benton was just a few days old my mom took us Clark, Ben and me to a pumpkin patch and we took some of my favorite pictures there. Then, I was a proud big sister. This time, I was a proud mommy.

Evy looked around a bit but didn't seem amused by the whole event. Butter luck next year, I suppose.

Fro Yo and 26 Years

 26? Really? I'm not officially closer to 30 than 20! YIKES! To celebrate the occasion we met up with some friends at Menchie's for some frozen yogurt. Birthdays seem so much less exciting as I get older. But my 26th year was the best of my lift. It was the year I received the best gift - I became a mom!

Grandma Migde's Visit

Like I mentioned in the last post, we were lucky enough to have Grandma Midge all to ourselves for over a week. We tried to fit in a few fun activities between naps, feedings, and Brett's busy school schedule. 

 On October 3rd we attempted to go look at fall leaves but we were a little late and most had fallen to the ground already. We didn't let that ruin the drive though. We stopped at a little roadside diner in Empire, CO called Dairy King where Evy sat in a high chair for the first time and took a stroll around Echo Lake near Mount Evans.

 

On October 5th Brett skipped out or school early and we drove to Colorado Springs and went to Garden of The Gods and the beautiful Broadmoor Hotel.

On the drive back Evy started "talking" to herself in the mirror that is on the seat in front of her carseat that allows me to visualize her through the rearview mirror. 

 On Saturday, October 6th, we went to another of Brett's flag football games. We decided Grandma brought the cold Alaska weather with her because it was freezing! When we got home we relaxed and watched LDS General Conference.

Evy "talked" to her toys while sitting in her incline chair. So cute!

On Sunday we went to the Johnston's apartment for our traditional conference weekend breakfast and introduced Midge to some of our good friends. We spent the rest of the day enjoying one another's company.

 That night Midge made a yummy surprise BIRTHDAY dinner for ME! My birthday was that Tuesday, but Midge was leaving before then so we have an early celebration.

It sure was a fun visit! Can't wait to see Grandma in Denver again soon!

Evy's Baby Blessing

My dad, mom and brother only stayed for the weekend so we packed in as much fun as we possibly could in a short time. Dad and Ben arrived on Friday. That evening we went to a Thai restaurant. The next morning we went to Brett's flag football game. My dad jogged (6 miles) to the park where Brett's team was playing.

 My mom and Grandma Midge flew in on Saturday evening. (My mom had been in Illinois helping my sister who had an icky infection and four young boys running wild in her house.) When we picked up Grandma Midge from the airport Evy gave her a huge smile! I had been telling Evy that Grandma Midge was going to visit us for over a week and she seemed pretty excited. After everyone was settled we had a little BIRTHDAY dinner for Mom.

Evy was blessed in the first LDS church built in Denver, CO

We felt so blessed to have many wonderful friends and famiy join us on Evy's special day.

My mom made Evy's dress and bonnet.

 I called her in a panic about a week before the blessing day. Every dress I liked was way too expensive and I thought it would be neat to have a dress made by Grandma. She whipped in together in no time and it was absolutely perfect.

Brett gave such a beautiful blessing to our sweet girl. 

I remember feeling overwhelming love for my little family and gratitude for the temple covenants that allow us to be together for eternity. I was again reminded that this love I feel for my daughter is comparable to the love my Heavenly Father feels for me.
